The Galico group’s chemistry laboratory is equipped with a range of synthetic tools, including a glovebox, Schlenk lines, a solvent purification system, reaction ovens, Parr reactors, and eight fume hoods.

Characterization Tools
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta is well-equipped with a wide range of characterization tools. Our group has access to all of these facilities:
X-Ray Crystallography Laboratory
Powder X-ray Diffraction Laboratory
Analytical and Instrumentation Laboratory
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory
Additionally, our group is equipped with a dedicated spectrofluorometer (Horiba Fluorolog-QM-75-12-C) that operates across the UV-Vis-NIR spectral range. The instrument is fitted with continuous and pulsed xenon lamps, as well as a 980 nm laser for upconversion studies.
We also have a Jasco permanent magnet (1.6 T) coupled to CD and CPL spectrometers, enabling Magnetic Circular Dichroism (MCD) and Magnetic Circularly Polarized Luminescence (MCPL) measurements.
